trémolières chanters

I'm working on a serie of chanters since (more than) one year, and I make a few more in addition of the current orders. There's: -1 D concert-p in boxwood -1 in blackwood -1 blackwood C -1blackwood B They are all full keyed (plus stop-key), nickel platted. They'll be availlable from next month (blac...

Fake old jigs

Hi everybody I wanted to share here this video, because two of the three jigs here are from my father, and despite he's not irish at all, and started to play the fiddle at 30, they always appeared to me as some of the best fake old tunes i've ever heard. And I'm pretty convinced they was inspired by...

Re: Clancyesque off the knee stuff

I think it rather is something like a sliding opening of F#, doubled with a popping. The popping increase the sliding effect, and you then finish with the roll on closed fingering. All this part of Willie's playing obssesses me since years. Basically, there's nothing very complicated. Everything is ...

Re: Reed Makers: Flat back D and staple size

Problem is there nearly no influence from the staple that can't be offset on the reed head... And I can't give you a single trick, supposed to fix this problem. The whole head shape is implied, and one solution working on one head can have no effect on another one. What is certain is that the backD ...

Re: Loftus jones

I heard one of our great pipers in France: Marco Pollier, explaining his system. He's refering with odd and even notes from the chanter: "odd" notes are the ones played by only one finger, "even" played by opening two holes.(it works better in french, where "pair" and &...

Re: Loftus jones

Wel well, more seriously then... About "skill" first, I often have at the beginning a tiny idea concerning the tune key. Hence I know I always can start with this key note on the regs, played as a drone. In case I don't know the key (I have to mention I don't read music and have not much k...

I need your feedback

Dear pipers, I'm interested in your feedback... I'm about to create my own enterprise and I would really appreciate your opinion on my inventions. Am I completely misguided, or do you think that they may interest some clients? It's really about getting honest opinions, not an attempt to be flattered...

Re: Benoit Tremolieres new reg system

This is the idea, yes, but you must consider me as a 50 years old youngster, starting on since 20 years with the job ! :D It's a way to say that everything is still going on , and that the workshop is not yet running at full speed, with a constant and steady production. Precisely because -and that'l...

Re: Benoit Tremolieres new reg system

I'll try to answer the questions :D First: yes, I did it ! At this stage, only the 3/4 set has been achieved. I had ("we", actually, because two of them have been made) to check how the system is playable, and how does the mechanic works. Big discussion is going on on what has to be improv...

Re: Chanters with only High D key ?

Don't you think the C# is the most difficult note to get in tune with both opened and close playing? Daniel Hervé made me noticed years ago that this apparently not very usefull key was present at the earliest stages of UP elaboration, and I always supposed it was added precisely when playing stule ...

Re: Interesting set

Thank you for the supports! Concerning reeds, I'd be pleased to tell everything I learnt, but it is however not that simple to pass on in writing... I'm more and more aware that a lot of very good things have already been transmitted around, and that I'm really not alone having been busy these last ...
