Re: To line or not to line?

Having both I prefer lined. I would not call a fully lined head joint metallic sounding, but maybe more clear. I think a huge advantage is that it keeps moisture away from the wood. I know some will say its more prone to crack... I have also had older flutes that were unlined and the bore in the hea...

Re: Rudall and Carte Cocus flute problem

If your handy Its not a difficult job to install new pads yourself. I had no problem doing it on my own flute. There are a few instruction guides on this site I think.

Re: Alternative to Cocus

Mopane is an excellent wood that looks a bit like new cocus. Some pieces can be very dark brown, but sometimes very red. I have heard that it can get very dark as it ages.. Here is a youtube clip...Playing a blackwood Gallagher but the pic is a Copley is Mopane. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbIwC...

I had toyed with the idea of 3,4 and 5 keyed flutes to save money but Ive always just gave in, spent the money, and gotten 6 or 8 keyed flutes. Never ...

Don't normally share this sort of thing but going to!

Played on a John Gallagher Pratten. By no means claim to be a great player, but I think this flute has great tone. Very pleased with it..
