Re: WTB Gilles Lehart, Delrin flute, or flute less than 1000.
Hi, I used to own a LeHart flute with wood with the same “grainy” look as the once pictured here. But it was well made and a strong player. The wood’s appearance could be a natural feature, a stylistic finishing choice on the part of the maker, or a combination of the two. Buying a flute sight unsee...

Re: Se Mo Laoch Seamus Tansey
Brilliant! Thanks for posting the link. Can someone tell me the name of the reel played before the Galway Rambler (at about 15 min into the show). It common enough but the name escapes me and is driving me nuts!
Thanks,
Steve

Serial number on Gilles Lehart flute
Hi,
I can’t seem to find a serial number on my Gilles LeHart flute. Does anyone know if he typically numbers his flutes?
Thanks,
Steve

FWIW, I think that the Eb flute that Harry plays on that clip is a Glenn Watson.

Tune ID
Hi, I came across the great YouTube clip of a flute player named Madonna Heron: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=y6vkk4SrL30 The first tune in the set sounds very familiar. I am sure I have at least one recording of that tune by another player, but searches through my iTunes library for “The wild irish...

FS: LeHart 6 Key blackwood flute
Hi, 6 Key blackwood LeHart flute in D for sale, $1,500USD. The flute is in good condition, no cracks or other issues. All the keys are working and sealing well. It is a slim, large holed flute that plays really well and likes to be pushed. I bought it from another Chiffer recently thinking that I mi...

Re: Advice on crack in barrel
Hi,
Thanks everyone for your input. I have found a woodwind repair person in TO who comes well recommended. In the meantime, the patient has been gently but firmly wrapped and left to rest up before the procedure. Wish me luck!

Advice on crack in barrel
Hi All, ARGHH!...I just got a crack in the barrel of my Sam Murray Flute  If someone could recommend a good woodwind repairer in the Toronto, Canada area it would be greatly appreciated. Also, any recommendations on care of the flute until such time that I can get it looked at? It's a hairline ...

Re: YACQ (Yet Another CITES Question): Private Sales
All fair points. Was just musing out loud. At first blush, "creative customs labelling" struck me as a minor moral transgression and a remote risk of personal loss that I might be OK to live with. But if, as people have pointed out, it could cause problems for others, then I'll certainly s...

Re: YACQ (Yet Another CITES Question): Private Sales
When shipping a blackwood flute, why not just "mistakenly" label it as cocuswood (a non-restricted wood) on the customs form? In practice, what is the the probability that anyone down at customs really going going to check and challenge this? I suspect it is exceeding low. Maybe if you are...

Keyless Olwell "Nicholson" flute for sale (UPDATED) SOLD
Hi, I am selling a keyless blackwood Olwell flute (it's the medium holed Nicholson model). I bought it about 5 years ago from a woman who had advertised it on this site, whom I believe was the original owner. It is a great flute in fine condition, no cracks or other issues. The numbers "00"...
