Re: CP ANNOUNCING: The Freeman tweaked Klezmer whistle ....
BTW I would have preferred that you had put the tonic elsewhere on the whistle than the bellnote, as with the hijaz scale melodies very often go below the tonic. The bell note is the minor seventh below the tonic, Richard. This whistle has seven holes. If you play with six fingers down you get the ...

Re: Jerry Freeman Low G
Hi, Richard. Thanks for the kind words about the wider body low G tweaked Generation whistle. Regarding the gray socket extension ... Without giving away my methods and materials, I had to begin with a material that's affordable and easy to machine to the needed dimensions. An exhaustive search turn...

Re: Jerry Freeman Low G
I appreciate your patience, Richard (and others). I'll be sending your low G whistle in the next few days. Gradually, I'm getting caught up on the orders that have come through PayPal. These got behind because I was ill for several weeks during February and March and then had surgery March 22. I'm 1...

Re: The search for "the holy whistle grale".
I have observed that filling the cavity under the windway with something like poster putty deadens the sound and takes away some of the birdlike brightness. It took a decade or more to find a solution that I was happy with. I needed something that would be opaque to air but transparent to sound, lik...

Re: The search for "the holy whistle grale".
That's the first design Feadog, popularly called the Feadog "Mark I." There have been four Feadog whistlehead designs and most people consider the Mark I to be the best of them all (as do I). Wonderful velvety tone. Yes, that's a Holy Grail of the traditional whistles, along with some of t...

Re: The search for "the holy whistle grale".
C&F members, please don't come after me on the grounds that I am guilty of self promotion. I am only mentioning this in an effort to be helpful. Have you ever tried my tweaked whistles? There are many for whom one or another of my whistles is their longtime favorite. (I am good friends with John...

Please take a look at the eBay listing to see a new soundclip and description. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284895206034 "It has a unique tone, nice in the bottom notes and extraordinary in the upper reaches. The narrow tone body and Bb head make much longer phrases possible. It should capture a un...

Re: Clarke original dimple
To the best of my knowledge, Shaw whistles have not changed. I used to tweak them, have tweaked a few hundred. They can be stellar. I found the higher keys (A and above) tweak very nicely following the same approach as I've described for Clarkes. Below about the key of A I found they don't respond p...

Re: Freeman Tweaked Generation Low F and Low D?
I would like to request that people not make assumptions about characteristics and not pronounce judgments against whistles they've never seen or played. In fact I would request that the moderators of this board make a rule asking that reviews be based on actual experience with the whistle being dis...
