Re: Harmonica players

Honestly, I just started playing again -- and I've never played seriously. I'm serious now, though. So, I have a Hohner Special 20 in G and a new one in C. I also have a Hohner Blues Harp in G. Wood vs. Plastic. Meh, anyway, I'm playing all kinds of stuff -- blues, old time stuff, celtic. Does anyon...

Re: Low F Whistles

I am sure that somewhere in this great mass of Chiffposts (maybe even the ones listed above), I've said something about my deep and abiding love for my Alba Low F. It was a cheap trick by a friend of mine, really. He once had an online store, and I ordered an Alba Low G from him. Since he was out of...

Thanks folks! I wasn't able to get an A whistle in time, so I hobbled through on my D, filling in notes here and there. Definitely seeing a need for expanding my key range. Judy: Thanks for the loan offer, but the drive to Ohio was a bit extreme, even with the falling gas prices. MT: I may wan...

Aye, for this Sunday. Thanks! House of Musical Traditions has the Susato for a whopping $66. Yikes. I hate to put that much out for a Susato -- never owned one, and with the varying opinions on the board and such -- but, I guess I'll take a hit for the team. Hehehehe.

Thanks again!

Help in NOVA/D.C. area

Hey folks, I just switched churches and the music minister was thrilled to have someone who plays whistle. I usually get mine off the 'Net, but he called this morning and needs me to play in A. Anyone know of a shop where I could get an A whistle in the Northern Virginia/D.C. area? Best, Little John

Get the Alba. Great whistles. Seriously, I can't say enough about them. I have several and love them all. An "A" ... Now there's a key I don't have ... yet. ...

The 7-11 Whistle???

Okay, so I just went to 7-11 to treat the kiddos to a slurpee tonight. I fill all the little slurpee cups and, lo and behold, I encounter anodized aluminum straws!!!! Totally ... I'm not kidding. ... in the colors of blue and green and purple. WHAT ON EARTH?!?!?! :o I'm going to go back, buy another...

An excellent idea. Buy it. You'll not regret it. My Q1 is the whistle I always wind up going back to.

I posted a thread back in August regarding Jerry's fine work. So as not to hijack this thread, my remarks are reprinted below: Okay, I've never been in the position to afford a Freeman Tweaked whistle. And I'm not in that position now. However, due to a recent trade, I acquired a couple. Hats off to...

Honestly, I'm just cheap (and broke). I saw the Hammy Hamilton practice flute and wondered if I could buy a head joint that would convert my low d to a flute, so I could go back and forth.

Thanks, though. I'll look into those options.
