Re: Piping post lumbar fusion surgeries

I have not had this experience directly, although I have had a cervical fusion. But a friend of mine who is a full time rock/jazz drummer has had two lumber fusions. He spent a lot of time shopping drum stools - trying everything he could borrow, rent, purchase and return, etc until he found the bes...

Re: Ezeedrone reed dimensions

Thanks. This is super helpful. I am about to start designing a set of 3d printable drones. I have dimensions to work from, but wanted to correlate the seat dimensions I have to the Ezeedrone reeds, as that's what I will use as I inevitably have to iterate and re-iterate the design. I just didn't wan...

Ezeedrone reed dimensions

Does anyone have dimensions on Ezeedrone Uilleann drone reeds. In particular, diameter at the seat(s) of the reed(s)?

Thanks in advance

Re: Elbow strap improvements

Hi Justin, Here in Canada we have a store called Tandy Leather that supplies leather and parts like buckles and rivets etc to the public. They are not cheap but they usually have everything I need, plus a willingness to help get a project moving in the right direction. I see you're in Lexington, KY...

Elbow strap improvements

Looking for some recommendations. The elbow strap on my bellows is a little less comfortable than I think it can be. I'd like the strap to be a bit wider and longer. But also, I know I've seen straps with a metal loop at the free end to keep the strap from coming completely out of the clasp. So befo...

Re: whilst waiting for my pipes...

Even with a properly positioned set up and good balance, there is just a natural death grip that comes with being a beginner. And I have had it on every wind instrument I have learned. Uilleann, whistle, Saxophone, Clarinet and Oboe. It seemed to take the longest to relax with pipes than any other -...

And trust me, when you start plugging bellows and a chanter into a duck then start squeezing, it's going to panic!

Re: Pls fill in the Blank. Almost every uilleann piper knows ...

Well I would modify it slightly and then the answer is easy. Almost every uilleann piper [who has used the Clarke tutor] knows "Song of the Chanter." But what good is that other than if playing with other UP'ers? I would give nod to any response here that comments on getting know the favor...

Re: O/T: My Confession - I can't read music and need your help!

You might consider trying a beginners Piano book. There won't be a lot of time spent on conveying technique, as any chimp can push on a piano key. And the music reading portions of the book will likely be very straightforward and have a distinct basis in music theory rather than being instrument spe...

Welcome Back, Chiff-Board

Great to have the board back.

I was starting to get productive at work and it had a lot of people really concerned.

Re: Vibrato/ Trill Chanter Fingerings

Sean McKeown uses alot of, one or the other. Are they trills or vibrato ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ev-sZUBZwA RORY I am in no position to take the piss out of someone on the art of piping. But as a long-studying musician, vibrato should never be this fast. And indeed, most instrumentalists an...

Re: Reed ease-of-playability versus volume

Sometimes. Maybe. I think. Although, of course, I may be wrong. But I think so. Usually. Except for those times when I think I am wrong. Which is on occasion. But not on those occasions where I am sure I am wrong. Which does happen. But not always. But it does happen. Now and then. But not usually....
