HOLLY vs BOXWOOD tone???

Hi, How would Holy compare to true Boxwood tonaly? I know both are a bit mellower than Ebony (which I like), but usualy Boxwood is also very distinct in sound? How about Holy??? Anything special or similar to boxwood? Thanks, Cheers

Re: Why Applewood?

Sorry . I used wrong words - what I mean is, that in the process to make it dry, it is prone to crack easily then some other woods. But when it is done it is stable as others.
But I gues it must be also something special about tone, that Joe likes it so much. Cheers

Why Applewood?

Hi,

I saw some makers like Joe Kennedy like very much to use Applewood for pipes. Is there anything particular in the sound of this wood that he likes more than Boxwood/Ebony, or he use it just becouse it's easy to get localy? I heard that it likes to crack very much-unstable. Thanks, Cheers
