Re: Whorfin Whistles tour

I'm in! This is very exciting. I'm a big fan of Charlie's whistles. His D whistles are excellent and I know he's not going to let anything go out that doesn't meet his standards.

We are in for a treat!

Re: Stuck whistle

Not sure if it will make a difference in getting the whistle unstuck, but I thought Steve Harper made his whistles from sterling silver.

Re: Looking to trade my Lon Dubh (polymer) for your Killarney D

I sent an email to the person originally posting this, but received no reply.

If anyone else is interested making such a trade, I have a Killarney D that I'd be willing to trade for the latest version of the Lon Dubh.

Please, let me know.

Re: Care and maintenance of wooden whistles

The maker will most likely include care instructions with the whistle.

Pretty sure Paul does.

Re: The Perfect Whistle

Perfect? No.

Lots of honorable mentions. Including a Hoover Blackcap with a two piece Clare body.

Now that was a whistle! How I miss it.

Re: Harmonica for Irish: Where to start?

Let me see if I have this right: I only need to concern myself with Paddy Richter tuning if I go with a 10 hole diatonic blues harmonica. If going with a tremolo or solo tuned Sampler, I don't. My education in music is next to nothing. I pretty much know how to read notes so that I can learn a tune ...

Re: Harmonica for Irish: Where to start?

Thanks for the reply. That helps. Just a couple questions: How important is Paddy Richter tuning? I have played whistle for over thirteen years now and never had the urge to branch out into any other types of music. Irish is it for me. So should I search out Paddy tuned harmonicas over others? Thank...

[Curious whether you (or others) have received any response from notes to their info@...email address. I sent a note on 2 Jan with some questions based on what we've said here but haven't had a response. Maybe they are too busy filling orders... Best wishes. Steve When I received my whistle, I sent...

Harmonica for Irish: Where to start?

I'm having problems with arthritis in my fingers and finding it harder to play whistle. It has been suggested that playing harmonica would allow me to continue playing the music I love so much. I'm willing to give it a try. A good portion of Irish traditional is in the keys of D and G. The D whistle...

Re: Interesting (?) - Killarney Whistles/Órlaith McAuliffe demo

Got mine in the mail today. I can confirm almost all that has been written here before. Very good whistle. Quite strong tone. Only complaint: Head is stuck, does not move a single mm, no matter how hard I twist. Might have to try the fridge later. That's strange. Mine came pre-greased. Added note: ...
