Can't comment on Kelishek's keys or service, but I had a #4 key added to an Aulos tenor a couple of years ago by Lazar's and they did a super job. Worth every penny. I'm sending my Mollenhauer off right after Christmas.
Short turn-around to boot.
Highly recommended!

If you have a chance to visit Kyoto, please come to my store. Its lower floor is an Irish pub which has regular sessions and upper floor is a B&B. An Irish pub in the same building.. sounds perfect! Will try to visit your new store next year. Reminds me of when Cody had Hobgoblin Music in San F...

Re: Boehm Flute Question: Plateau keys v open-hole keys
Might be worth it to do a bit of research on those who do play Boehm system instruments, the Grey Larson flute book discusses several, and see what they're using. The same Grey Larson book has a whole section on how various proponents of the Boehm system flute approach Irish traditional music and or...

Re: Gene Milligan whistles
I am looking at Gene's whistles and I am intrigued by his "quiet head" whistle. Is there anyone who has experience with the quiet head? I am a bit concerned that it may be prone to clogging. I have no experience with the quiet head, but I do have several of Gene's whistles and love them. ...

Re: Hide bag????
It's odd that I like Gore-Tex bags on smallpipes just fine, but I don't care for them much on the fullsize Highland pipes. I did play a Ross Gore-Tex bag on my Highland pipes for a couple years, and I got used to it, but I get a much better feel out of my Gannaway hide bag and Begg sheepskin bag on...

Hide bag????
Ok...love my Walsh small pipes in D, bellows and mouth blown options, but am considering converting to a hide bag. I've never been a Canmore/synthetic bag fan, just don't like to "wimpy" feeling of the things, although I used a hybrid bag on my GHB and liked it just fine. Anyone made the s...

Re: What's your favorite polymer/plastic whistle?
Love my Gene Milligan whistles, mostly Diamond wood or blackwood, but I do have a high D in delrin. Great balance, easy blowing with a little more volume than the Milligan D in blackwood. It's my medium to large session whistle, while I use the blackwood for smaller groups. Every one of my Milligans...

Re: Teflon Coating for wooden windway?
For my recorders I use Dupenol.
I buy mine from Lazar's Early Music in California.
One application last quite a while.
My wooden whistles (Milligans) all have Delrin heads, but it seems to work there as well.

...but the guy who turned up to our predominantly G/D session with a didgeridoo pitched somewhere around the Eb region made a, er, unique contribution ... I'm not sure that I've ever heard a didge make a welcome contribution to anything, frankly. I have a Chieftains record with a didgeridoo coming ...

I do believe however, that during the wedding scene, and perhaps a time or two later there were Scottish small pipes in the soundtrack.

Re: MK low D question
My holes were cleanly and precisely cut, clearly defined, but no burrs or sharp edges. Not rounded smooth, though. The edges of the holes seem to be in the same plane as the surface of the whistle. That's the way it is on both of my Reyburns. The MK I played definitely felt ragged, like there were/a...

Re: MK low D question
Hey...thanks to you all for sharing your experiences. I'll try the MK again and inspect the holes more closely next time I'm at the session. To me the holes felt ragged not just crisp. Maybe I just had to much B-B-Q sauce left over on my fingers! (our session is at the SLO B-B-Q in San Luis ...
