Re: Name that tune mega thread
Hello folks, any chance of a cheeky ID on this one please: https://www.mediafire.com/file/xktl2sqcei69wj8/MJ_whistle_tune.mp3/file Thanks in advance! Steve I'd give it a go, but I have no idea how to download the tune from that website. Nothing seems to work. Anywhere else you can put it? The tune ...

I think the tunes are Eimhin's and Cahir's Kitchen from the playing of Paddy Keenan on the Long Grazing Acre recording.Amergin wrote:Anyone know what the tunes here are, particularly the first (unless its all one tune)?

Re: Making a Tune "Stick"
Occasionally, I'll get the call to sit in with a band and fill in for a missing member. Naturally, I don't know their sets well and have little time to get up to speed. I've found it helpful to record several sets played by the band and then practice at home using slow down software to pick up the n...

Sounds like an old hymn to me: "There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood".

Re: New uilleann pipes EP by Valerio Vettori
I particularly enjoyed "Wheels of the World" which was a favorite of mine way back in my old fiddle playing days. Back then, I didn't know how to deal with tunes that extended beyond the range of the pipes. Now that I'm older and wiser and a bit more proficient on the pipes, I think I'll r...

Re: Favorite Session Instrument
Any session I'm in will have pipes by default. Therefore, I would choose fiddle with accordion as a close second.

Re: Childress Pipes
Hello All! I'm a member from the distant past, trying to make a foray into Uilleann Piping. I have a few questions just to fill in some lack of information mainly: - I know of Daye and Skye's work, and they are well spoken of. However I haven't found anything much about Childress. Is there anybody ...

I know it as "John Dwyer's". I learned it from John Whelan's recording, Celtic Fire, where it's played in a set along with Sporting Paddy and the Galtee Rangers. Here's my version: ge|dB~B2 GEDE|GB~B2 dBGB|AGAB AGED|E/F/G AB c2Bc|! dB~B2 GEDE|GB~B2 dBGA|B2BA BdcB|AGAB G2:||! ga|bg~g2 bg~g2...

In search of Michigan pipers
One or more Uilleann pipers needed for fund-raising festival entertainment in Big Rapids, Michigan on June 13 or June 20 (date not yet fixed). Interested parties may contact Jessica Slendak at jessicaslendak (at) gmail dot com. I don't have any more details than this. Sounds like the organizers are ...

I wouldn't be afraid to pick up a half if it's within your budget. Just turn the drones off while you are getting acquainted with the chanter, bag and bellows. When you are ready, the drones will be there for you.

Re: found on the internets
The YouTube piece sounds like "Noel McCarthy's" which appears on track 7 of Jerry O'Sullivan's recording, "The Gift". There's a fair amount of diversity presented on that cd.
