John McSherry uses 2 mikes on his chanter. One around the A-hole :o and one slightly lower down. Sort of like a spaced stereo pair.

Id assume they were condensers but couldnt see properly from where i was.

Dont think of it as D major though, think of it as A with G naturals other wise putting chords to it or shouting out a key in a session could be disasterous! :lol:

Beginner's Question (Sorry for the repeat)

I am thinking of taking up the flute, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a maker? Also, would it be better to go for a wooden flute or a delrin or pvc or whatever? All opinions welcomed! Money is a slight object but want a flute that in time is upgradable ie i can add keys to it. Cheers Dan

I dont think being self-taught is a burden at all. I think its a amazing feat to be able to learn with no-one there to keep you in a routine.
