My understanding is that Kerry tunable whistles SHOULD NOT be pulled apart, rather unscrewed.

Best advice is write to Phil directly. He is great with getting back to customers.

I have a Freeman whistle that he made for me 3 years ago. I cant remember what it is made of (Genhead/Feadog body, maybe?), and my MinPin puppy chewed the fipple a bit, but it is one of my favorites. This is my patina whistle showing its age unlike the rest of my collection.

I preferred a Chieftain simply because it was more fun to play, meaning it boils down to personal preference.
I just went thru the scales on all my Low Ds and the upper octave on the Chieftain is not difficult at all. High B (and above) seems linear to the rest of the notes below it.

I have found that blowing hard with the window covered (so you dont blast the house) helps considerably with the Dribble Factor whenever I play a fresh metal whistle.
I saw Tony Hinnigan do it and it seems like it works.

I am not familiar with the Jon C. Rudall but:

For anyone who is SERIOUSLY considering a jump to a high end whistle, I strongly recommend a Busman. I recently heard a clip of a Riordan and the first thought that came to my head was: HEY! That sounds like my Busman!

His whistles are sweet to play.

I enjoy "Yesterday" by the Beatles, written by Sir Paul McCartney 40 years ago. The sense of love lost that it conveys seems timeless, underscored by a simple, yet perfectly phrased tune which somehow captures the complexities of a relationship within the pathos of loneliness of life witho...

I agree with Mr. Kiley in that it depends on what you play. I play a lot of non-ITM so having a complete set is versatile for playing along with any music. Also having other keys helps break up the monotony of playing in D/G, and A. A B-flat or F is a nice change of pace. If I only had 3 whistle key...

I agree with JessieK, machine made whistles are very consistent. Considering the state of 21st Century machining this should be a slam-dunk. I once owned a hand-made Copeland, was dissatisfied, returned it to the maker with my concerns. They couldnt be corrected and I wound up giving it away. Would ...

Technically you can superheat water to a temperature slightly above 212 degrees Faran, 212 degrees frar, 212 degrees farner, 100 degrees celsius in a microwave under perfect conditions, heating for a long time and not disturbing it. It will steam, turning to gas, but not boil As soon as it is distur...
