Re: A funny thing happened on the way to the forum!

Jessie (and Dale), what an awesome story! Seeing this thread takes me back, er, quite a few years. :) Glad to see you are doing well.

Harry Potter 7 SPOILER discussion

YEAH, WHAT THE TITLE SAYS. SPOILERS WILL BE POSTED BELOW AND IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK YET AND READ ON HERE, IT'S YOUR OWN DARN FAULT! :) However, it seems a lot of people have finished the book. What was your favorite part? Anything you didn't like? Any surprises? How about that ending, eh? ;) P...

Well, I finished it. Great, so now what am I supposed to read that can compare to that? :o Yeah, me too. I was very impressed with the book - it is very close to being the (for me) perfect ending to the series. About as much action and plot as the rest of the books put together (without feeling rus...

Re: A Tolkien Poll: the Ringbearers' Fate

I have always been under the impression that they crossed the Sea for a time of healing and peace before they died. I am sure this is confirmed by Tolkien himself in one of his published letters. In short, mortal races are mortal and it is not within the jurisdiction or power of the Valar to grant ...

All great tunes, honest and energetic playing and a beautiful rendition of the Wounded Husar. There are not many airs on the flute that catch my attention, but this one I keep listening to. I agree, it's a very, very nice CD. And I love the piano accompaniment which helps give the tunes a more clas...

Make that virtually all of them, and you'll be a lot closer to the truth.
And then we have Harry, who seems to change his flute as often as the rest of us change our, em, socks...? :D

Lovely playing, BTW, Peter. I suspect this will start a craze to buy Mk. IV Feadogs - "The good cheap whistle - this one will make you sound like a pro!" :D

Well, with this particular review we do learn a few things, after all: Appearently the whistle has a strong low end, is pure rather than airy or complex, takes (more than?) a bit of breath pressure in the second octave, and is louder than the average cheapie without being unbearably shrill at the to...

One can't be a hardcore Tolkien fan without at least having read the Silmarillion to completion... Enjoying it is another matter. :D

In fact I do enjoy it, but I have to get past the first few old-Testamentish chapters and into the main action of the story.
