Glad to help.

The 'lady whistler' in the concert was Grace Kelly (She's sister to John Joe Kelly).

Indeed, that's my O'Briain set I was playing. The lady piper if I remember rightly was called Theresa, but don't trust me on that, as I stated, my memory is hazy of the event........

The concert is from 05. There was plenty of tuition in many instruments and loads of tunes and non-musical entertainment too (a typical thing at Tom Kings good house). P-P-P-Pipers in the session film include Tim Dowd Gael Rukowtski Myself Andrew Toboner (sp?) Theresa ?? And I'm sure there were more...

The Cup of Tea is 3 parts. The first tune is the Pipers Despair (as I know it) and is 2 parts, the last tune is the Lady's Cup of Tea. The middle one?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doina

Perhaps it's a traditional tune from another country?

Maybe someone with close links to John might be able to help. It would be interesting to know.

I always presumed it was a 'Doina' type of tune. But maybe, just maybe...................

It was put together by Edwin Spring (as the cover says), who was also one of the people who got the pipers of UK SouthWest (and beyond) together and started the fabulous SWAUP piping weekends. You can find more at http://www.swaup.org

There's certainly 2 volumes, and I enjoyed both.

Do you find that the chanters are in tune but the "extras" are added to compensate for bad reeds or reed adjustment ( ie can you "fix" them with a really good reed) or are the tuning defects that require these prosthetics "in the wood"? Serious question by the way. not...

Absolutely.

But I meant, in what manner would their advertisements have been worded?

Things like 'the esteemed and noble' etc.,

I believe Alains name is usually engraved on the stocks as well as the owners name and the date/year?
Perhaps they were made by Sylverster Ryan??? Pictures would help.
