The puck end on the bass drone is my favorite one though. It's about looks as well as sound.

Seth Hamon from Texas was selling Uilleann chanter reamers. He as a video on YouTube titled Bagpipe Chanter Reaming. It's the first kind used that isn't fluted that he was selling.

That'd be nice. I see they make them for all useful uilleann keys.

Thanks RORY! This will be useful in my playing. It will also aid in the tuning of my drones as well as chanters, three chanters by different makers.

Shame! A lot of great information etc. was also lost along with it's closing. Even as a beginner, it looked like the site wasn't long for this world. I did learn from it. Rest in peace! Hope this one is able to hang in there.

If it's just a sleeve, brass, copper or stainless would work. To plug the reed seat, any hardwood would do.

Although I never attempted to make chanter reeds from bamboo (Arundinaria japonica), I have made quite nice drone reeds from it. I burnt out the pithy middles and sealed the closed end with wax. Don.t think Crofter has to worry about his Arundo plants being too invasive where he's at. The seeds are ...
