Re: vPipes in Real Life Part 1: Aquisition
So, in summary, the lessons we can all take away from this are: 1) Don't negotiate with a seller to pay them in a different manner than they are used to, especially for international transactions. 2) If you use a financial service, such as PayPal or any other, read and understand the charges that m...

vPipes in Real Life
How do you get them? You don't. Probably. If you are not already in the pipeline, it may be a very long wait, or as they apparently did with me, they might steal somebody's place in the present que if you're important enough and make the other guy, like me, wait a little longer. Not counting the cou...

Re: Why are Irish sessions so fraught?
You think Irish sessions are fraught?! I sat in with some cats down at the Cabooze the other night around closing time. It's a good thing I was only in the session an hour or so because they were really tense--rolling up their eyes when they didn't think I was looking and making stink-faces every ti...

Re: does someone recognize this? (possible allergy?)
Blackwood could mean anything by the way. Anything from Ebony to Striped Ebony to Rosewoods to actual Dalbergia Melanoxylon, or sometimes called Bubinga. Most allergies come from exotic hardwoods, mostly tropical, but rarely "Blackwood." http://www.woodweb.com/knowledge_base/Allergic_React...

Re: vPipes Update
OK Doky. The ugly American (with the fine pocket-full-of-death Spanish firearm) will now open a new thread which will be a personal, largely technical review of the vPipes. I invite anyone who has opened one of these exciting, if not very heavy packages from FedEx Espana to chip in with me in an ope...

Re: vPipes Update
My vPipes are still virtual. Yes, tracking tells me they are on the way. Not two days ago when expected mind you, but they're in Memphis. Probably paying homage to the King before they come north.

Re: V pipes and PBS
They sort of missed a trick there. Had they just put a pressure sensor on the bell of the chanter you could have popped octaves on the knee just pressing harder as you naturally do anyway and wouldn't have needed a bag under the arm at all. The entire unit could have been a chanter and a cable to a ...

Re: vPipes Update
Moderators: By all means move that post about the reeds to a more appropriate spot on the forum. I just assumed that since there were many posts here regarding topics other than vPipes updates, it would be acceptable. I apologize to the forum. Don't listen to Willhelm Von Kermudgin there. This thre...

Re: New bellows design
How about if you put the inlet valve in the nice open piece of wood it normally goes in and put a decorative brass cover over it to keep it from sucking in your shirt. Oh, yeah, they solved that problem a couple of centuries ago....never mind.

Re: vPipes Update
I attempted to contact our Mr. Castro with my concerns that several others are receiving their pipes apparently ahead of me in the que and have had no response via the website contact procedure. It's been almost a week as of this post with no reply. Anyone else out there receiving vPipes lately?

Re: vPipes Update
Well. Then. You know, in the past I was accused of being too demanding of pipe and reedmakers and therefore many out there across the pond suggested I was quite deserving of having chanters stolen, hacked up, reeds stolen, charged 300GBP for the privilage of waiting two and a half years on a simple ...
