Re: Milwaukee Irish Fest

Yea Nancy one of these days we'll get it right. Still looking forward the meeting you guys. Isn't mobility great. When you finally can, you run around everywhere you've been wanting to go and then some. I'll really miss Irish Fest this year, I've gone at least 3 days every year for five years. My gr...

Re: Milwaukee Irish Fest

Nice to be called a regular. I don't know if I'll make it this year. Having a Heart Cath done Friday Morning. It's a terrible thing to pass on but the Doctor is of middle east decent and not old enough to understand how much the Irish influenced his heritage. If I make it my grandson will be pushing...

Re: Recommendation for Whistles in Key of A

Might give a thought to Alba. I just had a really sweet lower A on tour. Stacy makes them in either lower or high A, tunable or untunable, well within you budget. An attractive, great sounding, well made whistle. She's easy to do business with (unless she's off at a fair or festival). Find her on li...

Re: A whistles

I like the Alba A whistle and it is not very expensive. It is a very nice sounding aluminum whistle. It is about $135.00 USD depending on the exchange rate. It fits my fingers just right. For me it is easier to play than a Gen Bb. Ron I have to second Ron. I've just finished a week with a touring A...

Re: Contacting Stacey at Alba Aerophonics?

There were some problems with E-mails and such at her site. It's been reworked and was up and running without problems Friday. Try her again.

Re: Palestine, Texas festival

Jim: pretty soon you're going to have a meeting place designated at every festival West of the Allegainies (sp) and East of the Sierra Madres. We'll be needing stars on the sidewalk commemorating whistle and flute displays :D I didn't catch you in Milwaukee last year but maybe this time. Still too e...

Re: St Patrick's Day Parade

Marched Saturday in the annual parade along with the Son's of Erin. One member (a pub owner) brought along the band he had brought in for the evening, to play from a flatbed. Brought along my whistle but too cold, windy, and loud to do much. For the third year in a row my grandson walked beside me w...

Re: Flately's Lord of the Dance

When children aren't allowed to fail in school; kids sporting events don't have scores so the little darlings won't lose; folks who borrow money that they can't realistically make the payments on expect protection from foreclosure; and poor business practices are financially rewarded by the federal ...

Re: The Kitchen Sessions...

Thanks for the heads-up. I used to download the nightly evening program but some how went on to other things. I really enjoyed listening to Clare FM and must get back into the habit. It's a good way to get in tune with one aspect of the Irish music scene when you can't affort the airline ticket. Mike

Re: School recommendations please help!!

I can't really provide any first hand information but Milwaukee has a very active celtic scene and many well known performers frequent the area. A lot of young people in local bands come from the local universities. Two very active local organizations also support the ITM and popular celtic interest...

I started way too late, lack the talent, the dedication to practice and the sheer desire to even come close but WoW!!!, I can listen and appreciate forever. Unfortunately I never got hear her at school, and only once live.

I'm sure those play as well as the tour whistle did several years ago. I'll always remember how great that one was to play. Gives me something to dream about.

Keep up the great work Erle!
