***FS: Dixon Low D and Becker Alto A and G*** SOLD

Hi, I bought these new but never play them. They are like new and have only been played a few minutes each. The Dixon can be tuned (2 piece whistle), but the Beckers are one piece models. I am asking $99 shipped or best offer. Thanks for looking. http://i1341.photobucket.com/albums/o742/andrew98/Whi...

FS: Dixon Low D 2 Piece Tuneable Polymer Whistle

Hi, I bought this whistle intending to learn to play it. Life got busy, however, and I never got around to using this whistle. It's essentially brand new with only a few minutes of play time on it. I'm asking $100 shipped anywhere in the continental US. I prefer PayPal, but I am open to other method...

Re: beheading an oak

The fipple on my Oak came right off without using any water. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't a real difficulty either. The fipple was just on firmly. There was no glue on the fipple or whistle body.

Re: Dixon Trad - Your Experiences?

I've only been playing a few weeks, but I can't imagine a better whistle, especially for playing at home. It sounds great and is easy to play. I can't believe it's not available in C, and I'd likely buy one in Bb if that were an option.

Re: If you had to choose a key...

Well considered. And it will get you stepping towards a pipers grip and the stretch you'll need for the low D. Thanks. It's good to have folks validate getting those two. I also figured I'd have my hands full just learning songs with my Hi D and the alto G and A would be nice "in-be...

Re: New Whistle Guy. Hello to All!

Hi Chris. I'm new too (4 days in) and already suffering from a touch of WhOA D. Luckily, it's the budget strain. A good option if you do want a lower pitch whistle is James Becker: http://www.becker.embarqspace.com/#/irish-penny-whistles/4526996956 I'm spending a lot of time practicing too. Have fun!

Re: If you had to choose a key...

I don't know, but I would suspect there is a sound reason for the earlier manufacturers to offer C and D sets before the proliferation of whistles in every key. At one time, C and D were about the only whistles you could easily get. If I ever get a Mellow Dog, I'm going to pay the little extra to g...

WhOA indeed! I'm trying to avoid that, but we'll see how it goes. :D

Re: If you had to choose a key...

But most of those tunes in A go below A the same way that most tunes in G go below G. True, but if you're playing in G on a D whistle, you now have three notes below the tonic. On my low A whistle, playing with G fingering puts me in D. I like all the options a low A and G would provide. Maybe I'll...

Thanks for all the advice so far. I have another whistle in mind for C a little later on. I'm looking for something quite a bit lower in pitch right now. It sounds like I need both. :D

Re: FS: Parks Every Whistle

No kidding. Wow. Is that even if it's purchased through one of your vendors, Carey? As for repairs, yes. If my logo's on it, I'll sort it out for you. But refunds, well, that gets a little more complicated doesn't it? I can't really make a refund as I did not collect your purchase, and my dealers a...

If you had to choose a key...

I'm buying a low D and want to get another higher whistle from the same maker (Becker PVC), probably an alto G or A. I have a Hi D and will likely pick up a Freeman tweaked Bb Gen at some point. After D, is Irish, Scottish, and American Traditional music more often written in the key of G or A? Than...

Re: Searching for a Low Whistle

I'm going to order a Becker Low D soon. They're $15, and I've seen nothing but positive comments about them on C&F so far.
