Re: C flute recommendations

Interesting, I notice you're interested in a set of uilleann pipes.
I have set of 3/4 Preshaws in C that I'd sell or swap.

C flute recommendations

Hi
I'm after a flute in C made from either wood or delrin, preferably delrin but not too fussy.
Does anyone have any recommendations or even one for sale?
The one problem is that I need it quickly for a gig in December. I know I'm pushing my luck at such short notice but needs must.

Re: Anak Whistles

I have a low D by Anak and I really like it.
The head on mine is African Blackwood but there are other options.
Over the years I've had a few low D's - an Alba. Donald Gruern, MK pro and now the Anak. Nothing wrong with the other whistles but I prefer the Anak, it just suits me better than the others.

Re: Paddy O'Hare

Same here, no spruce and no refund. :(
I've tried email and messenger but no reply, not a huge amount of money lost but certainly annoying.

Re: CP: Anak Whistle Wooden Head Full Set!

I bought a Low D by Anak whistles about 6 weeks ago and I really like it. From a personal point of view I prefer the tone and tuning compared to a MK Pro I have on loan. Can't say I found any problems with hole spacing and I suppose my hands are on the smallish side. Just wish I had more time to pla...

FS. Copley keyless D/C combination flute.

I have decided that playing flute is not for me, I just do not have the time to practice to become a reasonable player. I'm therefore selling this flute and maybe a couple of others. I would prefer to sell the flute within Europe for Custom reasons. Details are. Hardly used and in ' as new’ conditio...

Re: Ebay Items

The Harrington that was stolen was measured by Mick Wilkins. I have one of maybe two sets he made from those drawings, but where they are I do not know. My set was made sometime before the set was stolen I think. This is him with my copy back in the early 80s I have a full set made of Boxwood. Iain

Re: Ebay Items

A new scam: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Uilleann-Pipes-Half-Set-Minus-Chanter/253527555199?hash=item3b076b7c7f:g:aiEAAOSwMPxavN4R I'm not sure it is a scam. The seller also has a set of Reel pipes for sale on eBay and a piping group on Facebook. He's quite a well known piper, even known in medical c...

I got the John Doyle book at Christmas and its definitely worth getting.
I very much doubt you'll regret buying it.

Yes, they were very much orchestral orientated.
I'm interested in some of your samples. I'll PM you.

Re: Australian reed cane samples for sale

About 15 years ago I used Australian cane from Reedsaus for GHB and SSP chanter reeds. That stuff was harder than the stuff I was getting from Rigotti, Medir and Madame Ghys - Glotin was nearly as hard. I didn't have a hardness tester at the time so can't give any figures but you had to sharpen your...

Re: Beginner's choice of smallpipes

Regarding playing pressures, here is a chart from my website outlining strengths and manometer readings. http://www.bagpipereeds.co.uk/downloads/my-reed-strength.pdf Obviously the strengths and pressures will vary from maker to maker. I believe Ross Calderwood at Lochalsh Pipes is looking at somethi...

Pipe maker M. B. Wilkins

Does anyone have any info on the maker M.B. Wilkins?
He made my boxwood C set and I'd like to know if he based my set on any particular design.
The set are playing but need a bit of tlc, I may even sell my 3/4 preshaw set and keep the Wilkins set.
