This kind of thing is greatly facilitated by the use of a stripper deck. A monkey can unshuffle a deck if it's a stripper.

Re: What are they teaching my kids???
It is not only communications coming from schools and businesses. The level of writing has declined in much of the written media. I see errors regularly in print -- local paper, CNN, Slate, and MSNBC all come to mind -- that would have cost someone a letter grade when I was grading copy editing stud...

...and I like to sing Emily Dickenson to the the tune of "The Yellow Rose of Texas." Yes, and thank you for that. Not so long ago an Irishman was glowingly telling me of his discovery of Dickinson, and I mentioned that; you know, just in passing, like. He paused, thought a bit, got a blac...

e.e. cummings and Robert W. Service, and I like to sing Emily Dickenson to the the tune of "The Yellow Rose of Texas." I also like to sing "The Cremation of Sam Mcgee" to the tune of "Star of the County Down." And I once tried to sing "The Waste Land" to the t...

Re: Hackintoshing
I just got this notion a couple days ago, while admiring the netbooks a couple of the kids in my Japanese class were toting. If those are college kids, then just pay attention because sooner or later, one of them will walk off and leave their backpack unattended long enough for you to replace that ...

My work takes me all over the country, and there is a substantial probability it will take me to Baltimore in a couple of weeks.
I'm trusting you people to have this cleaned up by then.

Re: Books that you'll never read
I still haven't finished Atlas Shrugged, which I started in 1952. I shall also most likely pass on the Twilight books, the LOTR trilogy, and anything by Nietzsche or Ann Coulter, as I have heard they are both fundamentally unsound.

Re: In Search of: A Middle Name
I don't understand the concern about whether its a boy's name or a girl's name, or why it makes a difference what people think she is. A fellow reprobate from college who frequented the samed bar I did had a girl dog named "Russell." (Russell was also a bandana dog.) People would ask him &...

I live in Birmingham, Alabama. Deep south. At this writing, it is 16 degrees F with winds at about 12 MPH. Let me tell you about my week. Forecasters here were predicting an inch of snow on Thursday. Some predictions were that we could get as much as 2 inches of snow. As a result, some school syste...

Re: The great biscuits and gravy bust.
I have done extensive research on all the local fast food places that serve biscuits and sausage gravy. I am very sad to report that McDonald's IMHO has the best tasting and the best deal. Saying that McDonald's has the best fast food biscuits and gravy is kind of like picking which hemorrhoid you ...
